I am Corinna Gronau and I live in Hamburg.
I love being out and about and noticing the details. In Paris I wander through small shops, visit Le Bon Marché and sit upstairs at the espresso bar by the stationery department, simply taking in the atmosphere. On Mallorca I am just as interested in markets, fabrics and small shops as I am in a good restaurant. Quite often, it is the unplanned things that stay with me.
That is how My Home Couture came about.
Here I write about travel, restaurants, special places, design and craft. About things I have seen, tried or discovered myself.
Some of them later find their way into the TRIXI GRONAU Concept Store. A colour, a material, a product or an idea can be the starting point for something new. And some things simply remain stories I want to remember.
PAPER, PRINT AND CRAFT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PART OF MY LIFE
My parents founded a printing and bookbinding workshop in Hamburg in 1963. I grew up with paper, printing presses and bookbinding presses around me. Printing, embossing and bookbinding were simply part of everyday life.
In 1995 I opened my own concept store. Today many people know it as TRIXI GRONAU.
In our atelier in Hamburg-Lokstedt we still create our own products, embossed pieces and personalised items. At the same time, I choose things for the store that I genuinely like myself, where the material, the design or the story behind them feels right.
My Home Couture has been online since 2014. It gives me the space to tell a little more about the things I come across when I am travelling or working.
WHY I WRITE HERE
I only write about things and places I know myself.
If I recommend a restaurant, I have been there. If I mention a shop, I know it. And if I write about a product, a designer or a workshop, it is because something about it caught my attention.
Some things have been part of my life for a long time. Others I have only just discovered.
I write about what I have genuinely experienced.
